It Started with a Picky Beagle: The Bouff Story

Bouff founder with Pablo the beagle

Every company says they started with a problem. Ours had floppy ears and an opinion about dinner.

Meet Pablo

Pablo is a beagle, and from puppyhood he was the pickiest eater we'd ever met. Dry food: sniffed, rejected. Wet food: two bites, then the look. Raw food: a diplomatic pause, then rejection. Years of half-finished bowls, switched brands, and mealtime negotiations that a beagle always wins.

If you've lived this, you know the real cost isn't the wasted food — it's the daily worry about whether your dog is actually getting what they need.

The kitchen experiments

Determined to fix mealtime, we started experimenting: if Pablo wouldn't accept a new food, maybe he'd accept his old food with something irresistible on top. Months of trial and error followed. The winner wasn't a sauce or a recipe — it was a single ingredient: beef liver, freeze-dried to keep its flavor and nutrition, ground to a powder that coats every piece of kibble.

Pablo finished the bowl. Then he finished it again the next day. Then his friends at the dog park started finishing theirs.

Why one ingredient

The more we learned, the more deliberate the simplicity became. Beef liver is one of the most nutrient-dense foods a dog can eat — it supports immunity, energy, joints, and coat on its own. It didn't need help from fillers, grains, or flavoring. So the label stayed one line long: 100% freeze-dried beef liver. Made in Canada, for dogs of every age and breed. The full case for beef liver.

From Pablo's bowl to yours

Today that kitchen experiment is The Daily Boost. The routine is the same one that won Pablo over: one scoop a day, over whatever your dog already eats. No transition period, no new food to argue about — just the same bowl, suddenly interesting.
